Craigievar Castle, Aberdeenshire, Scotland
When Cinderella is finally found, she marries her prince and moves into the enchanted castle. The castle featured in the film is based on a Scottish beauty in Aberdeenshire.
The Neuschwanstein Castle is rumored to be the other influence behind Walt Disney’s fortress, but Craigievar Castle takes the prize for being the true gem behind this iconic movie. Even the official National Trust for Scotland site says, “Discover the beautiful pink castle said to be the inspiration for Walt Disney’s Cinderella Castle.”
However, nothing is confirmed. Elite Daily reached out to Disney to confirm but never heard back.
The pink relic is decorated with turrets, gargoyles, and corbels to contrast the pastel-pink exterior. Unlike the other castles, Craigievar Castle is well-preserved in the beautiful southern hillside of Alford, Aberdeenshire.
