One of the more recent Disney films to garner popularity was a 2013 computer-animated musical film. Frozen, inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tale The Snow Queen, revolves around a princess who embarks on an adventure to find her magical sister, Elsa.
The film is based in the snowy mountains of a Norwegian-inspired kingdom called “Arendelle.” The local village is reportedly based on a village in Austria called Hallstatt. This quaint little community on the edge of a lake and at the base of the Salzkammergut mountains looks like the movie location — and it’s being smothered by tourists.
