Mont-Saint-Michel, France

It’s no surprise that Mont-Saint-Michel is so popular for tourists year-round, the magical island in the cross-section where Normandy and Brittany meet is practically mystical.

While it’s not technically a castle, there’s no denying that it has some touches of any other medieval fortress.

At the top of the island, there is a medieval monastery that would attract and host pilgrims for centuries.
