The Creepiest Abandoned Amusement Parks Ever

16. Dogpatch USA

Based on the hillbilly-themed Li’l Abner comic strip, Dogpatch USA opened in Arkansas in 1968 hoping to capitalize on its popularity at the time. The park’s attractions included Barney Barnsmell’s Skunk-Works, Rotten Ralphie’s Rick-O-Shay Rifle Range, and roller coaster Earthquake McGoon’s Brain Rattler. There was even a trout pond where guests could catch fish and have them cleaned and either packed to take home or cooked to eat right away.

Unfortunately for the park, the Li’l Abner strip, which debuted in 1934, began fading from popularity soon after opening, along with hillbilly-themed entertainment in general. The park eventually closed in 1993, and now only a few examples of its Li’l Abner theming remain standing.
