Why Mega Man Fans Are Flipping Out Over These Collectibles

I have been a Mega Man fan ever since I started playing video games. I’ve watched the anime series, bought the t-shirts, and collected the various figures that have been released over the years. So, it’s no surprise that I immediately checked out the new releases from Squip as soon as they were available.

But when I got the collectible statue in the mail it BLEW. MY. MIND.

The Story of Mega Man

Mega Man (also known as Rockman in Japan) started out as a robot lab assistant named Rock. He was created by Dr. Light and his partner Dr. Wily. However, Dr. Wily is really a bad guy who reprograms Dr. Light’s robots to do his evil bidding. So Rock volunteers to be converted into a fighting robot, defending the world from Wily’s violent threats. And, in classic superhero fashion, he is renamed Mega Man.

Created by Capcom back in 1987, the series took off and has been released on nearly every game system. The popularity has only grown as graphics and effects have improved, and the character crossed over to more mainstream audiences.

Naturally, Capcom has cashed in on the franchise — but with varying degrees of success. From bad product art to mass-produced toys with questionable paint jobs, fans have sometimes been disappointed with product quality.

Until now.

Collectibles from Squip

Squip is a newcomer to the fan-collector market, but they’ve made a name for themselves producing incredible products. Instead of mass-producing items through a traditional factory creation and distribution process, they use high-resolution fabrication. That means each item is produced on-demand with premium detailing, then inspected and individually packaged before being shipped out.

Their attention to detail is so fine, they’ve already scored licenses with major brands, including Street Fighter, World of Warcraft, Resident Evil and Capcom/Mega Man.

The Mega Man Collectibles

The company is currently offering two items — a statue with Rush (Mega Man’s faithful robotic dog, created by Dr. Light to assist Mega Man in his travels.), as well as keepsake ornaments for the holiday season. The Mega Man collectible statue with Rush (shown above) features our hero in his classic blue avatar and Rush in bright red, ready for battle. Other details include:

  • 4.92″ L x 4.92″ W x 4.52″ H
  • Digitally manufactured with hand-detailed enhancement.
  • A unique, hardened synthetic polymer material for durability and rigidity.
  • Packaged in a Squip and Mega Man-branded box for collectible protection and storage.

The Mega Man keepsakes:

  • Measure approximately 2″.
  • Come in classic blue, red, or green uniforms.
  • Feature a top hook for balanced hanging.
  • Also packaged in a branded box.

What was probably the most exciting was seeing how well the figures were painted. There were no wonky eyes or missing paint spots, and the shading was great. Overall, top-quality reproduction on every level.

And, at only $49.99 for the statue and $19.99 for each keepsake, they’re perfect as a nice gift, a stocking stuffer, or both.

Visit Squip to check out the Mega Man collectibles. They’re next-level genius.
