Jeanne Hébuterne by Amedeo Modigliani (1918)
Like most artists, they have a muse, and while their spouses would hope to be their inspiration, sometimes they aren’t. For Modigliani, this is isn’t the case.
This portrait is of Jeanne Hébuterne, one of his many muses. He met her when she was 19 years old, and soon she became the subject of a series of portraits he did. She was an art student at the time, so being with Modigliani, a fellow artist, must have been a dream.
