Tischbein is a German Neoclassical painter and his painting is held at the Städel Museum in Frankfurt, Germany. The work depicts Johann Wolfgang von Goethe when he was traveling in Italy. Goethe was a German writer and statesman, famous for his novels, epics, poetry, and prose. And, his portrait has been held in his hometown of Frankfurt since 1887.
