The Laundress (La Blanchisseuse) by Jean-Baptiste Greuze (1761)
These next seven recreations are created by the Instagram account @elizabethcuervoariza. The family of four recreates famous artworks using household items.
This first one emulates The Laundress by Jean-Baptiste Greuze. The oil on canvas painting depicts a washerwoman crouching over a bowl of water while her gaze remains locked on her observers.
The genre painting, which is meant to showcase activities of everyday life, is now held at the Getty Museum in Los Angeles but went unknown for almost two centuries before its discovery in 1770.
