Pictured above is Joel Sartore receiving a little affection from two trained grizzly bears. Sartore is an award-winning photographer, speaker, author, as well as the selected 2018 National Geographic Explorer of the Year.
Sartore’s specialties lie in documenting endangered species and landscapes around the world.
He is the founder of the Photo Ark, a National Geographic project that aims to raise awareness about species living in zoos and wildlife sanctuaries around the world. This call-to-action hopes to encourage others to save our wildlife.
“It is folly to think that we can destroy one species and ecosystem after another and not affect humanity. When we save species, we’re actually saving ourselves,” he says on his website.
